Assassin’s Creed III And Rock The Vote Come Together For Election Awareness

Εικόνα

What better way to build awareness for the upcoming election than to get a younger audience interested by bringing the Assassin’s Creed series into the equation? That’s exactly the plan, as Ubisoft, the developer of Assassin’s Creed, announced today that they would be partnering with Rock the Vote, the nation’s leading non-partisan registration organization.

Since Assassin’s Creed III is the first game in the series set in the United States, Rock the Vote and Ubisoft are going all out to get your attention on the election.

As part of the incentive, Ubisoft has a traveling exhibit prepared called, “Art of the Assassin.” The showcase will feature original Assassin’s Creed III-inspired works by notable contemporary artists, such as Ariel Erestingcol, Artek, Dual Forces, Justin Bartlett, Mark Dean Veca, Racecar 13, Dora Drimalas, Thank You X and Brian Flynn. The nationwide tour begins this Thursday at Los Angeles’ 525 DTLA Gallery. The tour ends in October, but as a grand finale, all the works will be auctioned off for the public to bid on. All proceeds will benefit Rock the Vote.

Also, as part of Rock the Vote’s Road Trip, where the organization brings musicians and voter registration opportunities to colleges across the nation, participants will get the chance to experience Assassin’s Creed III before its October 30th launch. Additional details have not yet been released at this time.

“Partnering with Assassin’s Creed III provides us with an opportunity to engage a large and influential group of young people,” said Heather Smith, president of Rock the Vote. “If we can inspire just a small percentage of Assassin’s Creed fans to become more active in the upcoming election, we’ll no doubt be on our way to achieving our goal of registering 1.5 million voters.”

Assassins Creed 3: The game to be excited about
Assassins Creed series. It is by far one of the best and innovative series to be made this gen. This is only confirmed with the next instalment in the series: Assassins Creed 3. This article will outline why it should be on your list of games to get this year and why it should be better than its predecessors.

Story
The story takes off from where Revelations left off, with Desmond arriving in New York to find another piece of Eden. The story of Connor Kenway takes place during the American Revolution, in which Connor can explore Boston and New York too. Connor is drawn into the fight between the Americans and the British when his home is attacked by colonists. This takes Connor on a path where he meets historical figures such as George Washington and Benjamin Franklin. The story will take place over 30 years of Connors life from 1753 to 1783.

Εικόνα

The game had first gotten some criticism over the fact that in the trailers it seemed more like it was the Americans and Connor vs. the British. The latest “AnvilNext” trailer however assured the fans and critics that Connor doesn’t take sides and that there are Templars within both the American and British ranks.

The history behind Assassins creed games is what makes this game that much more entertaining and making the player want some more and eager to learn more behind the characters they come across. Adding historical figures in the previous games such as, Leonardo Da Vinci and Machiavelli got me genuinely interested in the history between those two characters and made me research into those characters more. For example, did you know Machiavelli was crazy and wanted Da Vinci to steal a river for him? Yeah. Assassins Creed made me find that out.

Platforming
Ubisoft seem to be making the platforming better with each game in the series. From the leap in AC2 to the Hookblade in AC:Revelations, they know how to make an Assassin get from point A to B. In the latest addition to the series, Connor, can now finally do what no assassin in the past has ever done: climb trees.

As shown from gameplay trailers, Ubisoft have redone how the platforming works and it seems it is much smoother and Connor seems more agile than the previous assassins. This might be because of his native upbringing so free running, such as, climbing trees and cliffs may come naturally to him.

Εικόνα

It seems they have also added more interactivity to the character with his surrounding, as he is seen leaping over wagons and sliding under obstacles as well as jumping through windows going inside buildings. This however might just be short animations that the player has no control over but it still is better just to have that interactivity there.

Being 1.5times bigger than Rome in AC: Brotherhood, I am looking forward to climbing the random building, or even tree, for no reason and then jumping off for the giggles

Combat
With every new era, come new weapons. The arsenal of Connors weapons include: the knife, tomahawk, flintlock pistols, bow and arrow and also the return of the Hidden Blades which all assassins must have. As shown in previous trailers Connor has been shown to use the tomahawk as a standalone weapon as well as a projectile thrown at enemies, which is exactly what I was hoping for when I first saw it.

Εικόνα

They’ve added much more to the combat in this game, for example the character can now attack whilst running. No more did you have to pull over just to kill someone that kept chasing after you. Thousands of new animation has been apparently added into the game some of which have been carried on from the last game.

Now if you love AC just as much as me you’d know that the combat is one of the things that make these games amazing. The animations to a counter, the different ways of killing an enemy it all just made the idea of you being an assassin that much more satisfying.

Multiplayer
Now since I’ve luckily and thankfully had a chance to have some hands on experience with the Multiplayer and being a fan of the previous multiplayer, I am really amped for the online aspect of this game. Announced in the “AnvilNext” trailer, Wolf Pack and Domination are added game modes to the game as well as the original game modes such as, Wanted, making a return.

Εικόνα

Domination is a really good concept and surprised they added it into this game, yet it works so well you wonder why it hadn’t been added earlier. If you’ve played any FPS game you’d know what it is but to put it simply there are 3 flags on the map and your team has to hold the most flags for the longest time in the game.

Wolf Pack is another new addition where 2 to 4 players have to kill NPCs during a time limit, possessing 25 sequences. The more NPCs they kill the more seqiences are unlocked.

As you can see it’s a huge improvement over the games predecessors. This might even be a Game of the Year nominee. Look out for future news on Assassins Creed 3 and get pre-ordering! Assassins Creed 3 comes out on PS3 an Xbox 360 on the 31 October 2012 in the UK and 30 October 2012 for US. The PC release date is 23 November 2012 for the UK and 20 November 2012 for the US.

Assassin's Creed 3: taking the Revolution to the high seas
Altaïr was driven by duty. Ezio, by lust of revenge. Connor is driven by a more naive and inherently doomed desire: he just wants to do good. Good for his relatives in the Mohawk tribe, and good for the Assassins.
While we're on that, this is something that Ubisoft can't reiterate enough - Connor isn't taking a side in the American Civil War. He's not killing British people because they're British. The rough and racist world of America's founders (something that Ubisoft won't flinch from or wallow in) is the backdrop to our real battle between the Assassins and the Templars.
Εικόνα
At our latest trip to Ubisoft Montreal, we saw three new trailers. One set in the wintery wilds, one in a hot Boston summer, and the other out at sea. Any doubts we had about how you'd navigate the forests were dispelled as we watched Connor hoof from tree to tree like an ungodly gazelle-squirrel hybrid. On the ground, he ducks, side-steps and jumps obstacles to keep up with his quarry. But it's up in the canopy of the forest, on the subtle network of branches, that he becomes his own Assassin.

Here, the right-angles and the grid of the city have disappeared. Instead, the trees themselves lead you intuitively through the sky, and you can nestle in the v-shapes of tree-joints. From the perspective of a hands-off demonstration, Connor's movement seems to be easily the most natural and liquid yet.

Then there are the sea battles - Connor will be able to steer and fire cannons in sea-faring arcade sequences, which involve navigating tight reefs, open seas, and boarding the enemy ships. It's like someone took the boaty moments of Revelations and thought, "let's make these bits good". It's far more arcade than sim, which is all to the good. Real-life boat battles are pretty ponderous.
Εικόνα
While the trailers have Connor running across battlefields and single-handedly winning huge battles, stealth has new options, too. Connor can lurk in cover against walls, and waist-high shrubs offer him a valuable skulking place. The crowd mechanics have been refined to be more individual and purpose-based, so you won't see a bunch of Courtesans swanning aimlessly around. Instead, walking close to lots of other people will cause the Animus to crown you with a tiny white circle of inconspicuousness. If you need further disguise, you can call your Brotherhood. They can be summoned, in full redcoat disguise, to escort you into forbidden areas.

Side missions will emerge from the crowds in towns, as you see purses snatched and traders with missing stock deliveries, and you can cash in your animal skins for cash. New hero, new setting, new moves, and no Desmond coma scenes - count us in with both feet.

Naval Warfare Almost Didn't Make the Cut In Assassins Creed 3

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ap9z-T0mwcQ&feature=player_embedded VIDEO

Sometimes, things that developers work on won’t make the cut and will be thrown out before the game launches. Granted, we don’t usually hear about these things until after the fact: developers usually try to only talk about things that they know for a fact they can deliver. Else people feel mislead and might get upset because their expectations weren't met.

Alex Hutchinson, Assasin’s Creed III creative director, revealed today that naval warfare almost didn’t make it to the full game. “That was not a set in stone feature,” he explains. The main issue was determining whether a third person game could put you on a boat, and misusing the team's time and resources.

The doubt was so strong that the producers on the game tried to push for dropping the feature from the game, but they kept it anyway. Now, the developers claim that naval warfare is a crucial aspect of the game.

Playing a demo of the naval warfare earlier this year, it seemed to capture the spirit of the time well, but also seemed kind of tough to navigate. I wasn’t sure if it was that I was just a shoddy sea captain, or if the game didn’t pull naval warfare well enough. A segment where I had to destroy a couple of ships and board another one seemed to take a lot longer than it should have. Eventually the game devolved into me circling around the other ships endlessly trying to get a shot in. Meanwhile, the enemy ships shot me enough times to sink a small army of boats.

Still, it’ll be interesting to see how the full game tackles naval warfare...and who knows what else didn’t make the cut that we don’t know about yet!

Assasin's Creed III is set to release in late October and November, depending on the platform.

Assassin's Creed 3 gets its own take on Spartan Ops
Apparently, Assassin’s Creed 3‘s multiplayer mode will offer a deeper story than it did in previous instalments, becoming more than just an Animus training mode for Templars.

Ubisoft Annecy director Damien Keiken said in an interview with CVG that since the competitive aspect of the Assassin’s series has grown into a game of its own, they were given the task to create a storyline for Abstergo.

“As you progress in the game and level up your character, you access these files and videos. Every month you’ll have new challenges to unlock new content that will continue the storyline throughout the year,” Keiken explained. These frequent DLC episodes sound quite familiar to the content 343 has planend for Halo 4.

In Assassins’ Creed 3, Abstergo is said to have released the Animus to the public as some sort of virtual reality video game. This sudden change of heart to offer such an advanced piece of technology for commercial use will be the main focus of the plot that will be included in multiplayer.

Seeing how Ubisoft is aiming to release content to sustain the upcoming Assassin’s title for an entire year, we assume that they are trying to keep gamers hyped for a sequel in the franchise.
