Nvidia GeForce Experience update lets you share games, play co-op
GameStream co-op streams in 720p60, lets you watch, take over, or join in a game.
Nvidia is adding a new feature to its GeForce Experience software that will allow users to stream a game to another user's PC over the Internet, and play cooperatively with a just a single copy. The feature, dubbed GameStream co-op, is launching as part of a beta release of GeForce Experience in the coming weeks.
GameStream co-op, which is similar to Sony's Share Play feature on PlayStation 4, offers users three different modes. The first allows a friend to observe the game; the second mirrors the controls of the host PC on the guest PC, allowing the user to take over control of the game; and the third enables co-op play. While the observation and mirror modes will require no extra work from developers to implement, some may be required for co-op play.
GameStream co-op uses the same technology behind Nvidia's GameStream service, which allows users to stream a game over a local network from their PC to another device like a Shield tablet. However, unlike the 1080p support of GameStream, GameStream co-op will initially only support 720p streaming at 60 FPS using h.264 encoding, with a minimum 6Mbps upload speed recommended. Streaming will also only be compatible with the Google Chrome browser via a plug-in.

Καμαρώστε την αρχιτεκτονική Maxwell της Nvidia, που δήθεν θα υποστηρίζει το DX12 στο φουλ
AMD: NVIDIA’s Maxwell Is Utterly Incapable Of Performing Async Compute
[...] NVIDIA claims “full support” for DX12, but conveniently ignores that Maxwell is utterly incapable of performing asynchronous compute without heavy reliance on slow context switching.
GCN has supported async shading since its inception, and it did so because we hoped and expected that gaming would lean into these workloads heavily.
http://wccftech.com/amd-nvidias-maxwell-is-utterly-incapable-of-performing-async-compute/
DX12 Async Shaders A Big Advantage For AMD Over Nvidia Explains Oxide Games Dev
In regards to the purpose of Async compute, there are really 2 main reasons for it:
1) It allows jobs to be cycled into the GPU during dormant phases. In can vaguely be thought of as the GPU equivalent of hyper threading. Like hyper threading, it really depends on the workload and GPU architecture for as to how important this is. In this case, it is used for performance. I can’t divulge too many details, but GCN can cycle in work from an ACE incredibly efficiently. Maxwell’s schedular has no analog just as a non hyper-threaded CPU has no analog feature to a hyper threaded one.
2) It allows jobs to be cycled in completely out of band with the rendering loop. This is potentially the more interesting case since it can allow gameplay to offload work onto the GPU as the latency of work is greatly reduced. I’m not sure of the background of Async Compute, but it’s quite possible that it is intended for use on a console as sort of a replacement for the Cell Processors on a ps3. On a console environment, you really can use them in a very similar way. This could mean that jobs could even span frames, which is useful for longer, optional computational tasks.
It didn’t look like there was a hardware defect to me on Maxwell just some unfortunate complex interaction between software scheduling trying to emmulate it which appeared to incure some heavy CPU costs.

PC Gaming Hardware Market Produced $21.5 Billion Last Year, Twice The Size Of Console Hardware Sales
"It appears that the PC gaming market is doing well, as according to a latest report, it managed to produce $21.5 billion in hardware sales last year. That’s more than double the revenues derived from console sales, so yeah; the PC gaming market is alive and kicking a*s.
That’s according to the latest report of Jon Peddie’s PC Gaming Hardware Market Research which covers 33 countries, notebooks, desktops, DIY, and accessories.
Ted Pollak, Senior Gaming Analyst at JR noted that the $21.5 billion market is over twice the size of the console gaming hardware market:
“We continue to see a shift in casual console customers moving to mobile. While this is also occurring in the lower end PC gaming world, more money is being directed to mid and high range PC builds and upgrades by gamers. Committed PC gamers are generally not interested in pure content consumption platforms. They are power users and pay thousands for the ability to play games at very high settings and then do business, video/photo editing, content creation and other tasks with maximum horsepower at their disposal in a desktop ergonomic environment.”
Jon Peddie expects the PC Gaming Hardware Market to grow to $23.1 billion in 2017. Jon speculates that $10.1 billion will be coming from the Enthusiast market, $6.8 billion from the Performance market and $6.1 billion from the Mainstream market."

Age of Mythology expansion Tale of the Dragon announced
"Samuel Roberts reckoned that Age of Mythology's Extended Edition was a "worthy update", and now that update is set to receive a new expansion pack, only 12 years after the last one appeared for the original game. Tale of the Dragon, as you may have guessed, does Chinese mythology, but we know nothing about it beyond that yet.
We'll have to wait until October 2 to learn more, as that's when developers Forgotten Empires and Skybox will be holding a livestream over yonder. They're a busy bunch—they're also making a new expansion for Age of Empires 2 HD, entitled The African Kingdoms. You'll never guess where it's set."
