Guild Wars 2 free weekend refer-a-friend program to coincide with Lost Shores event
Guild Wars 2 will be running a refer-a-friend program which will run November 15-18, according to ArenaNet. Starting November 12, players can send out invites to friends, who can play the game for free that weekend, which coincides with the Lost Shores event.

Guild Wars 2 content plans include new dungeons, creature variations
Writing on the MMORPG’s website, studio design director Chris Whiteside gave a note form rundown of what the team plans to work on over the next few months:
- Revamping all of our existing dungeons (Story and Explorable versions) through rebalance and overhauled encounters.
- Adding new dungeons to the Fractal of the Mists.
- Adding more variation to creatures, enhancing our open world scaling system, as well as evolving many events and experiences across Tyria.
- Fixing and improving existing content throughout the game, and better tying it into the overall sense of player progression within Guild Wars 2.
- Building on the Southsun Cove’s persistent content.
- Adding new Guild content and Guild progression features.
- Continuing to evolve PvP into an E-sport.
- Adding brand new content to World vs. World as well as adding new reward progression.
- Continuing to build upon the story and adventures of Guild Wars 2.

Guild Wars 2 issues bans for Snowflake exploit
Guild Wars 2 players have earned permanent account bans for taking advantage of an exploit introduced in the Wintersday holiday event.
The exploit allowed players to craft items using one ectoplasm – a rare ingredient – and then salvage them to receive two in return. In the wake of the exploit’s popularisation, the market price of ecto was considerably lowered, although ArenaNet moved fast to close the gap.
As is to be expected, the game’s forums and other discussion destinations like Reddit are chockers with banned players arguing that the method was not an exploit, or that they had no way of knowing it was an exploit, and mourning the loss of hundreds of hours of game progress.
ArenaNet is unmoved.
“Any time you take one thing and can make two, and then four, and then 16 – ya gotta know that’s just wrong,” support liaison Gaile Gray wrote in response.
“And to perform that action hundreds and hundreds of times? That’s called exploitation, and that’s against the User Agreement, the Rules of Conduct, and all that is holy.”
Massively reports this is the second round of mass bans handed out in response to exploits; after the first incident, ArenaNet unlocked many banned accounts, but warned that it would not do so again.
“We’ve been more than kind, in the past, and everyone needs to own up to his/her errors and recognize: We all are part of the game economy, and those who exploit it are hurting the rest of us. Exploit closed. Worst offenders terminated. That’s what has to happen to make things right for all of us,” Gray added.

Μέσα από πρόσφατο post στο επίσημο blog του Guild Wars 2, ο Robert Hrouda μίλησε για τις αλλαγές που πρόκειται να δεχθεί το επιτυχημένο MMORPG. Όπως έγραψε, η χρήση των waypoints στα dungeons του παιχνιδιού δε θα είναι διαθέσιμα, εκτός εάν η υπόλοιπη ομάδα του παίκτη έχει εξουδετερωθεί. Ακόμα ο μηχανισμός «res-rushing» θα αφαιρεθεί τελείως. Ο σχεδιαστής της NCSoft Matt Werffel σε ένα αντίστοιχο post δήλωσε πως θα υπάρξουν αλλαγές και στο σύστημα επιβράβευσης των παικτών.
Οι παίκτες πλέον θα λαμβάνουν ένα νέο in-game νόμισμα με την ονομασία laurel, για κάθε ημερήσια δοκιμασία που θα ολοκληρώνουν. Τέλος, αλλαγές θα υπάρξουν και στο σύστημα των achievements.

Guild Wars 2 guild missions detailed, trailered as game goes on sale
ArenNet has released a new trailer showing some of the new guild missions coming to the MMO with the update on February 26. The developer has also updated its blog with some pertinent information on the matter. On top of all this, the game is on sale until February 25.
February’s release will include the following mission types:
Guild Bounty – Your guild is tasked with tracking down and capturing various targets for the Orders. These people are wanted for a variety of reasons and have all sorts of tricks up their sleeves to resist arrest!
Guild Trek – Think you know Tyria? Well the Tyrian Explorer’s Society has a challenge for you! Find the list of locations before time runs out.
Guild Challenge – These challenges leverage our existing event system but are specifically geared to require multi-group, coordinated play to succeed. So gather your guild and see if you’re up to the challenge!
Guild Rush – Test your skills with a mad dash over harrowing terrain, traps, and other hidden dangers. Just remember, there’s safety in numbers!
Guild Puzzle – It’s a puzzle and a jumping challenge all in one! This mission type requires multi-group coordination as well as individual jumping skills to get to the treasure at the end.
