The Binding Of Isaac Remake Coming To Consoles & PC
Binding Of Isaac developer Edmund McMillen has confirmed that the title is currently being remade for a console and full PC release with a whole host of updated features.
Edmund McMillen has confirmed that “Binding of isaac is currently being remade for a console release” in addition to an iOS and Android version of Super Meat Boy whilst responding to fan enquiries on his Formspring. He states that the title will be a “remake with a wrath of the lamb size expansion added to it + more and it wont be out till next year”.

McMillen is aiming to bring the title to all consoles, including OUYA “if the publisher wants to do it”, and says that “the console version of isaac will feature A TON of new modes, bosses, items, playable characters, co-op and a million other things we couldnt do in the flash version.”

In regards to updating the Flash version of Isaac, McMillen cited that “the file size is so large that it takes 10-15 trys to export a functional swf file.. if we add or edit anything it gets worse and worse and is getting to the point where the fla becomes corrupted every other save.. we cant add anything without breaking EVERYTHING. so yeah thats why the flash version is totaly done.”

In regards to rumours about the addition of co-op, the developer stated that fans will “have to wait and see”.

*Sony never asked for Heavy Rain 2, says David Cage
Εικόνα
Quantic Dream boss says Sony never pushed developer to make sequel to 2010 thriller, company has "total freedom" with Beyond: Two Souls.
Quantic Dream's 2010 PlayStation 3-exclusive thriller Heavy Rain won warm reviews and sold more than 2 million copies, but publisher Sony never asked for a sequel. Asked by Gamasutra about how much freedom Sony afforded Quantic Dream to pursue their creative vision with its new game Beyond: Two Souls, Cage was clear that Sony has not interfered with that game, and never asked for Heavy Rain 2.

"Total freedom. Total freedom. No constraint in anything," he said. "Many publishers, after the success of Heavy Rain, would have said, 'Well, you need to do Heavy Rain 2. And do what you want, but it's going to be called Heavy Rain 2.' And we never had this conversation with Sony. They just asked me, 'What's next? What do you want to do?' 'Well, I have this idea, what do you think?' 'Yeah. It looks great!'"

Speaking about his current project, Beyond: Two Souls, Cage said the game could not be made without "complete freedom," something he said Sony is readily providing him and his team.

Cage has had lots to say about the industry recently. In the span of the past two months, Cage has called for an Apocalypse Now-like shooter, said the industry will die without innovation, and claimed the business needs to "grow up."

Dead Island dev’s next game is Project Hell
Dead Island developer Techland has created a second team to work on a new fantasy action title currently codenamed Project Hell.

Εικόνα

According to the project’s debut blog post, the game grew out of a weapons mod for Dead island built by one of TechLand’s team.

Described as an “FPP hack and slash game in a dark fantasy setting”, Project Hell is being developed by a small internal team, independently.

“We won’t be asking for your money on Kickstarter,” designer and project manager Marcin Kruczkiewicz said.

“Our main goal is to make a game we can all enjoy playing so don’t expect unicorns and fairies – we prefer breaking through hordes of undead minions only to slaughter their devilish and loathsome masters in a bloody boss-fight. To achieve that we’ll use our experience already gained in game development and enhanced technology from Dead Island.”

The team has released a couple of pieces of concept art; check ‘em out below. No release date or platform information at this early stage.

Classic 'Resident Evil' could return, says series producer
Resident Evil could return to its roots, a series producer has revealed.

When asked whether the fixed viewpoints and slower pacing of the original games could return, Resident Evil 6 producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi said that such a style would be best suited to a handheld
"I think nowadays that would be hard putting an old-school-style console game on, say, the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, I don't think the technology is suited for that style of gameplay," he told Digital Spy at gamescom.

"But that's not to say we couldn't do that on another platform. I think mobile platforms, for example, might be suited to a classic Resident Evil game. For example on PSP you could definitely do a classic-style game like that."

Kobayashi, who started at Capcom as a programmer on the original Resident Evil in 1996 and was a producer on Resident Evil 4, added that he personally wouldn't want to make such a game at the moment.

"It would be interesting to make, but personally speaking I'm not sure if it's the game I'd want to make right now. I would want to make something completely different if I had the opportunity."

The last Resident Evil release to use fixed, isometric camera angles was GameCube adventure Resident Evil Zero in 2002.
Earlier this month, Capcom announced a dedicated free online Resident Evil service to store gameplay stats and help players find co-op matches.

Unveiled during Capcom's gamescom conference, ResidentEvil.net will showcase players' top scores for comparison with friends, introduce social features such as Twitter integration, and play host to official online competitions.

Announced earlier this year, Resident Evil 6 is set 15 years after the Raccoon City incident and takes place in the infected town of Tall Oaks, as well as China.

Capcom recently confirmed an unlockable Ada Wong campaign and unveiled a Left 4 Dead-inspired 'Agent Hunt' mode.

The game is the firm's largest ever production, with more than 600 staff involved in its development.

Resident Evil 6 will be available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 2. A PC release will follow, but has not yet been dated.

Doom 3 BFG
All The Bells And Whistles (And Then Some)

When it was first released for the original Xbox and PC way back in 2004, Doom 3 managed to set a new precedent for survival-horror thanks to its dark endless corridors, multitudes of freakish monsters and demons, and scarce ammo pickups that forced players to master their fears and think on their feet. Now Doom 3’s developer Id Software is teaming up with Bethesda to give fans an enhanced and revamped ride back into the bowels of hell thanks to the Doom 3 BFG Edition.

The BFG Edition, which is currently set to release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on October 16th release date, contains both the original Doom 3 campaign as well as the 2005 expansion Resurrection of Evil and a bonus seven-mission campaign titled: The Lost Mission. Players will get to explore all of the game’s hellish environments in stunning detail thanks to a high definition facelift and enhanced lighting effects.

Small tweaks such as an increase in the player character’s movement speed, higher frequency of health and ammo pickups, and a new checkpoint system will help streamline the action. In addition, a new “armor-mounted flashlight” will mean players won’t have to switch between holding their flashlight and holding their weapon.

In Recognition Of Your Service

The Doom 3 BFG Edition will also include achievement/trophy support which, when combined with the new Lost Mission content, should provide more than enough incentive for fans of the original to give it another go. Also, as a special treat for long-time fans and players, the BFG Edition will include remastered versions of both Doom and Doom 2.

Even though many fans have been clamoring for news regarding the long-rumored Doom 4, Id Software’s creative Director Tom Willits is confident that the Doom 3 BFG Edition will at least sate their appetites for a little while. “The whole world’s a little bit brighter. We upped the player speed, upped the ammo counts, and just by doing those small things have pushed it more towards horror-action instead of horror-survival.”

This was a crucial change according to Willits considering that other popular horror series’ such as Resident Evil and Dead Space have also been taking more “horror-action”-oriented routes. So far, a majority of fans seem to agree as the BFG Edition’s reception has been overwhelmingly positive despite Id’s coy stance regarding Doom 4 details.

Mission To Mars, Journey Through Hell

Considering its iconic place within the survival-horror genre, it would be a shame for the new generation of gamers to miss out on the legacy that is the Doom series. Fortunately, thanks to the Doom 3 BFG Edition, newer gamers will no longer have to worry about missing out on a series that, back in the day, managed to redefine both the FPS and survival-horror genres. With a whole slew of new tweaks, features, and content, the Doom 3 BFG Edition is already gearing up to plunge players back into the depths of hell with nothing but a rocket launcher and raw nerve to protect themselves this October.
