Borderlands 2: Mechromancer class on sale 60 days after game’s launch
Borderlands 2′s fifth character class, the Mechromancer, is available free to anyone who pre-orders the game ahead of its September 21 release in Europe. Anyone not pre-ordering will have to wait 60 days for the DLC to appear online before buying.



The Mechromancer class will be available on all formats – PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 – from launch to all pre-order players who are members of the Gearbox Premier Club.

She’s a cyborg who has mastery over most things technical and can call on a hulking ‘Deathtrap’ mecha to fight by her side to turn the tide of battle.

Borderlands 2 Newest Focus on New Weapons for the Game

Whenever the subject of weapons comes up with respect to the Borderlands video game series if you find yourself slapping your head or moaning do not feel bad -- it is a common reaction for a game series that made a statement when it comes to sheer variety and availability of weapons of every type!

The games in the Borderlands series have a weapons generator built into them that offers players so wide a variety of weapons -- it is said that Borderlands set the world record for number and types of weapons in a video game -- that it is very difficult to determine what weapon you have in your inventory is the best weapon even when you use the built-in compare option to stack them up against each other! Don't take this wrong -- we think that the weapon system in the game is one of its most compelling and interesting features -- but it should not surprise most players to learn that even tried and true veteran gamers tend to end up sticking with a "favorite weapon" even when they find a better one.

Seriously! 2K Games and Gearbox Software put their gnomes to work scratching through the current offerings in the game and whipped them into shape in the form of the Maliwan, Tediore and Vladof weapons trailers embedded below, which in addition to providing gamers with an info-fix to satisfy that addictive need also feature themed narrations showcasing each brand specialty.

Whether it’s elemental destruction, insta-digistruct reloading, avalanches of lead, or even a combination of two, Gearbox has got you covered.

The best advice that the veteran Borderlands gamers here in the GU Bullpen can offer new players is this: when you find a weapon you like, stick with it until you find a weapon that is clearly superior to it in damage dealt AND in accuracy -- because breaking in a new weapon and learning its idiosyncrasies is a time-consuming effort that has the same level of emotional pull as breaking in a new boy/girlfriend... But at least you don't have to go through the trial of meeting your new Sniper Rifle's parents. We are just saying.

Borderlands 2 is set for release on September 18th, 2012 in North America, September 21st, 2012 in the UK, and elsewhen elsewhere in the world! The game will include versions for Microsoft Windows PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3, and has been rated M (for Mature) by the ESRB and PEGI 18. In Australia you will probably need to install a panic room and have one of the teachers from Hogwartz cast an age-line on the entrance to the room before you will be permitted to play the game...

“This is a first-person shooter in which players join rebel forces to take down an oppressive corporation on the fictional planet of Pandora. As players explore open-world environments, they complete missions to gain experience and increase their characters’ skills/abilities. Players use machine guns, sniper rifles, flamethrowers, explosives, and weaponized vehicles to kill human-like characters and hostile aliens in frequent combat. Firefights contain realistic gunfire/explosions; injured enemies scream and emit exaggerated splashes of blood.

“Various weapons result in dismembered limbs or bloody gibs. Some missions depict intense acts of violence: viewing characters getting electrocuted; shooting a man in the face; killing players’ incinerating a cult member as part of a ritual sacrifice.

“The dialogue contains jokes/one-liners that reference sexual material (e.g., “I will hang myself from my own tombstone if in you I can’t put my bone,” “If there’s anything they love more than getting to second base with their sisters, it’s cars,” “Bacon is for sycophants and products of incest.”); during some sequences, players can find and collect adult-themed magazines—though no actual nudity is depicted.

“One mission requires players to consume three alcoholic beverages from a bar before they can progress. The words “shit,” “pussies,” and “asshole” can be heard in the dialogue, in addition to language censored by audible bleeps (e.g., “God-[bleep]-ing-dammit”).”

Sounds awesome. I’ve been re-playing the first on PS3 this past week to get prepped for it. Needless to say, I’ve died a lot, but I’m damned rich.

Borderlands 2: “crazy” new footage, lead writer quizzed

Borderlands 2 is everywhere right now, even the realm of physical-based card games. Yes, that’s still a thing. Gearbox and 2K Games have unveiled card artwork and details on how you can gret your hands on your very own Borderlands 2 card pack.



Anyone who has pre-ordered Borderlands 2 at an indie game store in the UK will receive the Borderlands 2 Top Trumps ‘Guns Guns Guns’ game. The deck consists of 30 cards that will only be available this one time, so if you like rare shiny stuff, you best get pre-ordering the game.

2K spokesperson Ben Lawrence said, “Only 5000 packs of cards will be distributed across the country and will be available on a first-come-first served basis to those who pre-order Borderlands 2. Once they’re gone, they’re gone so I’d encourage people to check with their local Indie store to see if they’re stocking the cards”

Borderlands 2 Original Soundtrack Announced – Available September 18



Sumthing Else Music Works today announced Borderlands 2 Original Soundtrack featuring the original musical score from the highly anticipated Role-Playing-Shooter video game Borderlands 2 from Gearbox Software and 2K Games. Borderlands 2 is the sequel to the critically acclaimed four-player cooperative shooter-looter that combined intense first-person mayhem with role-playing gameplay.

Borderlands 2 Original Soundtrack is scheduled for release on September 18th to retail outlets worldwide through Sumthing Else Music Works www.sumthing.com, and for digital download at Amazon MP3, iTunes and other digital music sites. The soundtrack is now available to pre-order from Amazon.com.

Composers Jesper Kyd (Assassin’s Creed), Cris Velasco and Sascha Dikiciyan (Mass Effect 3), with additional music from Raison Varner (Gearbox Software), created a colorful and dynamic music score for Borderlands 2‘s adrenaline-fuelled combat and diverse atmospheric environments.
