Πραγματικά τώρα, όσοι προσβλήθηκαν από το βιντεο... να πάνε να κοιταχτούν!

Εκτός και αν λένε αυτά που λένε για να μείνουν στην επικαιρότητα...

Hitman director on Absolution’s nun trailer: “It’s not our job to promote the game”
Speaking to OPM about Hitman’s recent nun trailer, Absolution director Tore Blystad says that while developer IO has a say in the marketing “ultimately”, he also adds, “it’s not our job to promote the game as such”.

According to Blystad the uproar surrounding the Hitman: Absolution trailer was unexpected, saying, “We didn’t really expect the feedback we got. It was a huge surprise to us at IO”.

Blystad says the E3 teaser, ‘Attack Of The Saints’, which portrays Hitman taking out a group of rival assassins dressed as PVC wearing nuns, is “in context” as it’s “taken from a scene in the game”.

In the long run, though, he says marketing is the job of other departments and not developer IO. “We know most about the game and we’re working with the brand team and the creative services team, ultimately they will have to make the judgement on how to best promote the game and use the assets that we have”.

Only 20% of players will see the last level in Hitman: Absolution, says director
IO Interactive’s Tore Blystad has said metrics compiled by the firm have revealed many Hitman: Absolution players won’t see the last level of the game.

“We are using metrics a lot more now than we did, for good and for bad,” he said. “The general player will probably never even finish the game, which is very sad. Or they might only play through it once, but the game is built for the people who want to go back through every single level and get all the stuff out of it. It’s built to last, rather than be a one-off experience.”

“I guess people can’t commit to taking all those hours to finish one product, they get tired of it. It’s not just for this game, it’s for any game. Knowing that 20% of the players will see the last level of the game. It’s horrible to know. It makes the people working on it really really sad.”

Blystad said normally such information would inspire the developers to shift content to earlier parts of the game, but the narrative in Absolution didn’t allow for this.

“It’s very difficult when something is constructed to fit into a larger story to move things too much around,” he said. “I think in some of the previous Hitman games that that might have been the case – that some levels were moved earlier, because they were more catchy or interesting. For us it hasn’t really been that easy, because the story is really tying all the levels together, so they’re still coming in the same order, more or less, that they were designed.”

“In the user tests we have they actually tell us that the replayability factor in itself, it’s the situation or the humour that’s the reason people actually go back through the levels, they want to see more, they want to find these things, which makes us very happy, because it takes a lot of time and effort to get these things in.”

News: Square Enix and IO Interactive have released details of the Hitman: Absolution Deluxe Professional Edition, “a collector’s edition we think [players] will love.
If you fancy a bit of super-exclusive Hitman: Absolution gumph, you might consider purchasing the ‘Deluxe Professional Edition’ when it releases on November 20th.

This “strictly limited” collectors’ edition features a ten inch Agent 47 vinyl statue, as well as the standard Professional Edition of the game, which includes an art book, an in-depth making-of DVD, and the Agency Gun-Pack DLC.

Said IO Interactive brand director Jon Brooke: “Our community and fans mean the world to us, and we’ve worked hard to create a collectors’ edition which we think they’ll love.”

Hitman: Absolution’s shaping up to be an exciting prospect, with plenty of ways of hitting objectives, and lots of super-cool atmosphere. After some shaky first impressions, it now seems IO are really nailing the wonderful creative sandbox that they’ve mastered with previous Hitman titles. Not too long now ’til we’ll be able to get hold of it.

Hitman Dev's Secret AAA Project Includes 'In-game Economy & Monetization'
Εικόνα
Io Interactive is seeking a Monetization Expert for its mysterious unannounced AAA game.
Hitman: Absolution developer Io Interactive is making another, yet-to-be-anounced AAA game - which may feature micro-transactions and an MMO-style economy, according to a recent job-listing.

"Io Interactive is currently looking for a full-time Monetization Expert to join an unannounced AAA game project," reads the ad, posted last month.

Ongoing responsibilities of the role will include "collaborating with game designers directing and developing the in-game economy and monetization system for the project while working closely together with finance, brand/marketing/sales, and affiliated teams," explains the ad.

Io wants the successful candidate to "set new standards for entertainment in games while keeping it a good business," by developing "new monetization methods early in game development", as well as tweaking the game post-launch.
