Valve Working With 9 Director On His Next Film



Shane Acker the director of the film 9 is teaming up with Brown Bag Films and Valve to create his next film, Deep.

Brown Bag Films is best known for creating short films and children's animated television programs, and Valve is known as the company that adamantly refuses to make a game every body wants (Half-Life 3).

Deep is a post-World War III, post-apocalyptic, underwater adventure film being directed by Acker, and Valve's Source engine has been licensed to assist with animation.

"Valve's tools and technologies, based on its Source game engine, allow Acker and Brown Bag real-time rendering, and editing, simplified character animation." Working with the Source engine also allows for an easy transition to a video game based on the movie and Brown Bag is also looking at Steam as a possible distribution method for the film. Indie Game The Movie will be distributed on Steam, so it's certainly not out of the question.

The film is currently in pre-production, so I doubt we will hear any more details soon.

‘Avengers’ Passing $600M Domestic Today
Avengers Box OfficeAs of today, Marvel’s The Avengers is #3 domestically, #4 internationally, and #3 globally in terms of worldwide box office. And the Disney film still is yet to open in Japan, which takes place on August 17th. Right now its gross is $1.438B. But today the mega-hit superhero assembly crosses $600M at the domestic box office, which surpasses the original 2D domestic run of the Fox/Paramount co-venture Titanic ($600,788,188) and was the 2nd highest grossing domestic film in history. Of course none of these figures are adjusted for inflation and higher ticket prices and 3D premiums. What’s even more incredible is that the pic is still solidly in the Top 10 domestically after opening the first week in May. Congrats, Joss Whedon and cast.

Ryan Reynolds Officially Cast in "Highlander" Reboot
About a month ago, we learned that Summit Entertainment was moving forward with a "Highlander" reboot and was in negotiations with Ryan Reynolds to play the lead. And now, both the TrackingBoard and Variety are reporting that the actor has accepted the offer.
In "Highlander," after centuries of dueling to survive against others like him, Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish swordsman must confront the last of his kind, a murderously brutal barbarian, who lusts for the Prize.
Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) is set to direct the new movie from a script by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man, Punisher: War Zone).

Sam Raimi exits World of Warcraft film
Sam Raimi is no longer on board an upcoming World of Warcraft film, the director has revealed.



“Actually, they don’t have me directing World of Warcraft anymore because when I took the Oz job, they had to move on to another director. They had to start making it,” Raimi told Crave Online at San Diego Comic Con.

Raimi did not reveal who has been chosen to replace him, despite his suggestion that the project has gone into production. Maybe Duncan Jones will get his chance?

The prolific producer – who is best known for Evil Dead and first three Spider-man films as well as TV series Xena, Hercules and Spartacus – has been attached to the World of Warcraft film since mid-2009.

The production is a joint effort of Blizzard and Legendary Pictures, and is being produced by Charles Roven, the man behind the Nolan Batman trilogy along with Blizzard’s Chris Metzen.

The publisher has promised the film is still happening despite slow progress but said it has to be done right.

Die Hard 5 "Not Carry On Die Hard"
Director John Moore has been discussing the forthcoming Die Hard sequel, talking up the scale of the picture and revealing that it features a car chase that is taking more than two months to shoot.

Speaking to Empire about A Good Day to Die Hard – which sees John McClane journeying to Russia to rescue his son – the Max Payne helmer revealed “The scope goes from New York to Moscow. It’s very, very international. There’s a car chase through Moscow that’s taking us 78 days to shoot.”

And regarding the tone of the film, Moore explained that he won’t be poking fun at the franchise, referencing the classic Carry On comedies in the process: "There are a couple of great gags and a couple of great McClanisms," he explained. "It's not like he's this idiot, bumbling around Moscow making 'America won the Cold War' jokes. It's not Carry on Die Hard, I assure you."

“I don’t know whether it’s post-financial crash or whatever, but I don’t think people are in the mood for that bollocks anymore. People are well savvy to the cynical reheating of any product; any franchise. Any sh*t won’t do. The bar’s a bit higher.”

A Good Day to Die Hard hits screens globally on February 14.

First Teaser Logo for The Hangover Part III



Last December, leading man Bradley Cooper confirmed that the boys from The Hangover would officially return for a third instalment, expected to hit the big screen next spring.

2009’s The Hangover turned its $35m. budget into north of $450m., and last year’s sequel grossed even higher at the international box office, turning $80m. into almost $600m.

Now Legendary Pictures have released the first teaser logo from the upcoming film, which will see Cooper joined once more by Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis, along with Ken Jeong and Mike Epps.

Todd Phillips will be behind the camera again, directing from a script he’s co-written with Craig Mazin, who co-wrote The Hangover Part II.

Cooper has said that the third film will be shifting gears and not sticking to the original formula, so I’m interested to see what they bring to this latest – and quite possibly last – instalment.

Plot details are naturally being kept under wraps, but the film is expected to be shooting in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Tijuana in September, and is thought to involve Alan (Galifianakis) being rescued by the others from a mental hospital.
