The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Skyrim's Dawnguard DLC Release Date Confirmed
We’ve been anticipating Dawnguard since it was announced by Bethesda earlier this month and now we finally have a solid release date. The first batch of DLC for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be available as a timed-exclusive for XBox 360 users on Tuesday, June 26th. PS3 and PC gamers will be able to get their hands on it 30 days later.
June 26th was rumored to be the target after game director Todd Howard tipped the date earlier this month. It has since been confirmed in a Tweet by Bethesda Softworks: ”Dawnguard will be out Tuesday for 360 in English. FIGS 1.6 patch for 360 coming next week and Dawnguard FIGS will be out mid-July.” FIGS stands for “French, Italian, German, Spanish.”
Time to sharpen your sword, pull that arrow out of your knee (and stop talking about it), and get back in the fight. As though you needed any more reason to be excited, check out the Dawnguard trailer below.

New Skyrim DLC and Dawnguard value
We are shocked to hear that some gamers feel disappointed with the first Skyrim Dawnguard DLC, and while everyone is entitled to an opinion it’s worth putting things into perspective. The amount of hours the gameplay delivers is way more than most single player games, which works out at around 10 to 30 hours of gameplay if you decide to play as the Dawnguard and then also again as the vampires.

Hearing from some people that state they completed the first Skyrim DLC in just 3 hours is another shock, one some of us find hard to believe unless they were playing on easy (not master) and never considered playing as the Dawnguard and vampires with different save files. Then you also have different types of players, which includes those that love to explore everything and enjoy the story, and also those that try and complete things as fast as possible on easy to say they done it already.
We’ve only played for a couple of hours on master and enjoyed the challengers so far, and the story has offered way more than many full priced games we’ve played. Our journey has only taken us to Dimhollow, having a choice to become a vampire from Lord Harkon, and hunting out others to join the Dawnguard in the battle against the vampires. Skyrim is pure class and while there could have been a lot more done with expanding the map within Dawnguard, you got to appreciate the value for money compared to alternative RPGs.
Do you feel the $20 price tag for Skyrim Dawnguard is well worth the money when compared to alternative games and DLC, or had you been expecting a lot more?
New Skyrim DLC this year or next? How soon the second downloadable content could come would depend on the size, and some die-hard Elder Scrolls fans want the next DLC as soon as possible, although not all fans feel this way. Some gamers want something much bigger than Dawnguard, and would like something along the lines of Shivering Isles and a lot of new places to explore.
What would you like to see with some new Skyrim DLC, and would 2012 be too soon to part with more cash? If you did purchase Dawnguard and only played as either the Dawnguard or vampires, then we suggest you get your moneys worth and create another save file for a different experience. It might be that some people got spoilt with the main Skyrim game, and as such were disappointed with Dawnguard. We’d love to hear your views on this, so hit the comments with your thoughts.

THQ names new Executive VP of Production/Skyrim update 1.7 available on Steam
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been a wildly successful title and one of its latest updates will hit steam today, and THQ just announced who its new Executive Vice President of Production would be as well.
According to a release on Bethesda's official blog, update 1.7 for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will now be available on Steam for download.
The update will also include features from the 1.6 update that was highlighted by the mounted combat feature.
Update 1.7 was mainly comprised of several bug fixes such as: eliminating the crashes related to dragon landings, improved recognition of Kinect voice-commands and fixed crashes relating to new water shaders.
On the THQ side of things, the press statement released today summarized the new hiring of Ron Moravek as the new Executive Vice President of Production.
The 14-year video game veteran helped negotiate the sale of THQ back in 2004 and then served as the company's general manager until 2006.
Ron said he is excited about returning to THQ and working with the development teams as they head forward into the next era of gaming.
"I am thrilled to be re-joining THQ and to be working with Jason and the development teams around the world to deliver high-quality games and digitally connected experiences.
"There are many exciting changes affecting the videogame industry today, and I look forward to building new games and experiences with Jason and the team at THQ," Moravek said.
