Πολύ ενδιαφέρον βιντεάκι. Μπράβο που το βρήκες Shepard, μόνο μια διόρθωση να κάνω. Στο βίντεο λέει "one study showed that violent games increase pain tolerance by up to 65%" δηλαδή ότι η αντοχή στον πόνο αυξάνεται μέχρι και 65% όταν κάποιος παίζει βίαια παιχνίδια (μάλλον γιατί βλέπει ότι υπάρχουν πολύ χειρότερα ) και όχι "ένιωθαν περίπου τον πόνο τους να ανεβαίνει κατά 65%". Από τη μία θα ήταν λογικό γιατί θα τους "θύμιζε" τον πόνο αλλά η έρευνα λέει το ακριβώς αντίθετο

This Amazing Algorithm Draws Video Game Characters Using Tetris
If you think drawing in real life is hard work, just wait until you see how tough it is to create art using Tetris.
This software, created by Michael Birken, is called the Tetris Printer Algorithm, and it rotates positions and drops Tetris pieces in a calculated way to create images. Yes, that is as laborious and long-winded as its sounds—but the results are pretty amazing.
In this video, it's used to draw all kinds of old-skool video games characters, including Link from Zelda and Bub from Bubble Bobble (remember that?). You can learn more about the algorithm on Birken's site. Or just watch the video. Your call.
2013's Best Video Game Art Is Beautiful (And Occasionally Bloody) Into the Pixel is an annual competition which seeks to award and highlight the best video game art in the business.
This year's winners have been announced, and each piece will be showcased during E3 next week.
It's a prestigious competition, one that not only puts the artist and their work on the mantelpiece just as the world is tuning into E3, but also affords them the chance to be judged and awarded by their peers, whether they also be from the video game business or are just artists in general.
Among the judges this year were Blizzard's art manager Seth Spaulding and iam8bit's founder Matt Hall.
In total, sixteen pieces were selected to comprise the final exhibition. Most of the artists involved has been featured here on Fine Art previously.
A special congratulations must be in order for the Destiny art team, who managed to get two pieces into the final 16, by Dorje Bellbrook and Jaime Jones respectively.

Bethesda – “We haven’t had time to fully understand and evaluate their policy.”
Sega – “We are currently discussing within Sega policies relating to the new generation of consoles. As soon as these have been agreed upon with all concerned partners we will make the information public.” Konami – “We have nothing official to share at this time.”
Ubisoft – “We’re just now getting more information about Microsoft’s plan and starting to examine what it means for our games. We don’t have anything new to share right now, but rest assured we’ll continue to focus on providing the best experience for our customers no matter how or where they buy our games.”

If you’re looking forward to a new Contra game, Konami might have something to announce during E3, especially since the folks at AllGamesBeta have spotted a registration for a trademark called “Contra Run and Gun”. The trademark was registered by Konami on the 4th of June, and according to the description, the trademark will cover “Video game software; video game programs; computer game software; computer game programs; electronic game programs.” Konami did tease a new Contra game back in 2011 during E3 as well, although we have not really heard anything since. Will 2013’s E3 be when Konami introduces the latest game in the Contra franchise?
Twitch launches new video game broadcasting SDK
Popular video streaming service Twitch has opened up its broadcasting services to all game developers and launched a new version of its Twitch SDK, offering an expanded set of APIs, as well as broadcasting support for Unity PC games.
Twitch is a San Francisco-based video platform built specifically to help people easily broadcast and watch gameplay. It currently has more than 35 million unique monthly viewers.
With this new open developer program, Twitch says that developers can now grab the online toolkit and integrate the Twitch live broadcasting functionality into their games.
Utilizing Twitch, developers can access data alongside video broadcasts, and potentially share events and statistics with viewers live alongside broadcasts.
There are a whole host of other new features for developers to explore as well, including the ability to share the top community players, showcase DLC as part of broadcasts, and learn which players are worth keeping an eye on and fostering.
The upcoming Company of Heroes 2, due for release later this month from Relic Entertainment, has this new Twitch SDK integrated into it, allowing for post-match highlights and direct game capture.
Those developers interested in the Twitch Developers Program should visit the official website. http://dev.twitch.tv/

SimCity update 5.0 live now, full patch notes here SimCity developer Maxis has published the game’s 5.0 update, which includes regional missions greater data control and much more.
New: Historic Price charts for Global Market resources are available from the SimCity World button on the main menu. New: The Region Wall chat has been completely updated with a new look and new functionality! Chat functions more efficiently and it’s much easier to communicate with other players. Time stamps show on chat messages on rollover. Regional events are easier to read and can be toggled on and off. - New: Added a filter for friends’ regions in the join region section. - New: Trading control. Added feature to give players more control over their utilities. Players can now choose whether or not to keep their power, water, or sewage local. This setting can be found on the information panel accessible by clicking on the power plant, water tower, or sewage pipe or plant. Sharing with the region is on by default. - New: Regional Missions: Added seven new regional missions: Drink It Up!, Plug In, So Stoked, The Wheels on the Bus, Ferry Dust, Station to Station, and Riding Coach. - New: Regional Achievement: Added a new regional achievement, Field Trip! - Gifting Improvements: Cash gifts are now delivered electronically, not by truck. This should improve the efficiency of gifting. - Resource gifts: Resource gifts will happen more reliably. Multiple trucks can make deliveries at once if they are available in the sending city and the truck capacities have been increased. - Great Works Improvements: Delivery trucks will mark their resources as dropped off as soon as they reach the Great Works, instead of when they arrive back in the city. This will make tracking time more reliable. - Great Works Improvements: Update to have all resources at Great Works handled at the regional level. This will address players in different cities seeing different resources once the server has processed the region and cities. - Great Works Improvements: Fixed an issue where an Arcology would maintain power from the region and fixed an issue where shoppers would not increase at the Arcology as it was leveled up. This will update in both existing and new Arcologies. - Great Works Improvements: Tuned the Solar Farm. - Regional Unlocks: The advanced coal mine unlocks regionally. Fixed issue where the Trade HQ sometimes did not unlock. - Fire Advisor Trading clarity: Tuned the Fire advisor so they do not tell you that neighbors are sending fire trucks when your neighbor has no fire stations. - Trading: School buses that travel from a neighbor’s city will show that city’s avatar. - Regional Commuting: Fixed an issue where Sims would not be able to take transit out of cities with lots of streetcars or shuttle buses. This could cause some cases where commuting Sims could not return home and their homes would go abandoned. - Garbage Trucks and Recycling Trucks: Fixed an issue that some cities experienced where garbage and recycling trucks do not leave their buildings or disappeared when trading service with neighbors. Existing cities who have trucks that have disappeared will have to demolish their missing trucks’ garages and plop new garages. - Text Clarification: The “Out of Money” message now says “Can’t find work” when appropriate in rollover feedback and the approval rating UI. This is to clarify your Sims’ actual need.
