Gameplay trailer για το Warface
Το Warface της Crytek πρόσφατα πέρασε στην closed beta έκδοσή του στην Ευρώπη και την Βόρεια Αμερική και έτσι η ομάδα ανάπτυξης του τίτλου κυκλοφόρησε ένα νέο gameplay trailer δείχνοντάς μας τους καταιγιστικούς ρυθμούς που επικρατούν στον επερχόμενο free-to-play FPS. Sins of a Dark Age gameplay trailer released
Ironclad Games has released a trailer teasing the first gameplay from upcoming MOBA, Sins of a Dark Age.

Studio director Blair Fraser makes an appearance in the video. He explains Sins of a Dark Age’s originality, and how it evolves the MOBA formula with role-playing elements including Realm Quests, new characters and relationships between players.



Sins of a Dark Age is currently in its closed beta stage. Those of you interested in playing the game can do so with The Founder Edition, a $25 package that provides instant access to the early version of the title.

Bioware co-founder: companies have to be strong to survive “EA bear hug”
BioWare co-founder and former group creative officer Greg Zeschuk has said the developer came through its acquisition by EA intact because it was already well-established.

“I think one of the reasons that we survived and succeeded within EA was that our company was mature enough and there was enough good people throughout to handle the EA bear hug — something that is well meaning but vigorous,”
Zeschuk told Polygon.

“We needed to be strong to survive that and I think we did and you evolve from that as well.”

BioWare is one of a number of developers snapped up by EA, but few have remained as independent and distinct as BioWare has. Rather than being closed or disolved into other brands, as were Pandemic and Bullfrog, BioWare has thrived, even becoming one of EA’s major divisions – a label which now fosters Mythic Entertainment.

Prior to joining EA, BioWare had won a loyal fanbase with classics like Baldur’s Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire. Post-acquisition, it birthed Mass Effect, arguably one of modern gaming’s most important franchises, and Dragon Age, as well as MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Elsewhere in the article, Zeschuk discusses his retirement from the games industry, stating simply that his passion had waned.

Crytek snaps up "core" Vigil staff for new Texas studio
Crytek USA Corp. lead by Vigil co-owner David Adams

The new Crytek USA Corp. will be headed up by former Vigil GM and co-owner David Adams, with some "35 experienced developers" under his wing, reports Gamasutra.

While full specifics are yet to be detailed, THQ boss Jason Rubin has confirmed that many - if not all - of these staff are comprised of the "core" team from Vigil.

"Great news for Vigil, at least the core team," said Rubin via Twitter in direct reference to the Gama report. "Thanks to Crytek for saving as much as they could of a fantastic team," he added.

Rubin later added that, "The Darksiders and Red Faction IP have not been auctioned yet," inferring that the Darksiders IP remains with THQ.

When asked if Crytek had purchase Vigil, a Crytek rep has said the new US startup was "more like a new start for [the team at Vigil]".

Last week Jason Rubin called the lack of a buyer for Vigil "a travesty", revealing that the studio was working on a 'truly unique' game codenamed 'Crawler'.

It unclear if development on this title.

République video shows off progress in the game’s development
Camouflaj has released screens of its action game République, and has noted that the game’s pre-rendered backgrounds have been replaced with backgrounds sporting dynamic 3D. The firm also released a video update for which discusses the game’s progress. Check it out below. République, after as successful Kickstarter campaign, is in development for iOS, Mac, and PC.

Νταξ, αυτα ΔΕΝ χανονται...

Το L.A. Noire της Team Bondi διέθετε την κορυφαία τεχνολογία αποτύπωσης των χαρακτηριστικών του προσώπου σε συνεργασία με την Depth Analysis, δίνοντάς μας τις καλύτερες κινήσεις προσώπου από κάθε άλλο video game. Η εταιρία ανάπτυξης όμως δεν σταμάτησε εκεί, καθώς «πάντρεψε» και τα λάθη των ηθοποιών με τους αντίστοιχους χαρακτήρες του παιχνιδιού, προσφέροντάς μας ίσως ένα από τα πιο ξεκαρδιστικά bloopers που έχουν εμφανιστεί σε video game. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt goes open world – report
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has reportedly made its debut in the latest issue of GameInformer US, and boasts a completely open world.

The issue’s cover has been scanned and uploaded to NeoGAF (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=511690) along with a few details harvested from within.

According to reader reports, the open world is 20% bigger than that of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and will take up to 40 minutes to cross on horseback.

The story, like the world, is not divided into chapters or acts. The open world is enabled by a new streaming technology enabled by the new CDRED Engine 3.

Protagonist Geralt has recovered all his memories, and probably as a result is not interested in fighting for a faction. Instead, he wanders the world slaying monsters and solving mysteries, as in the books. The image on the cover shows Geralt riding with an adult companion whose face cannot be seen.

CD Projekt RED apparently did not give platform information beyond a mention of “all top-of-the-line” consoles, suggesting a potential next-generation release (hello, PlayStation 4). The GameInformer cover describes it as a “must see next generation RPG”.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter unveiled

Here's an interesting indie game that is coming this year on PC. The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is labelled as a "weird fiction horror" inspired by early 20th century weird and macabre tales. It is developed by The Astronauts, a team comprised of People Can Fly veterans. Players will take on the role of a detective (with the supernatural ability to visualize scenes of lethal crimes) that investigate the kidnapping of a young boy.

Weird Fiction Horror Coming to PC in 2013, In-Engine Teaser Video and Screenshot Released


Inspired by the weird fiction stories and other tales of macabre of the early 20th century, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a game to be played at night, alone, and in headphones. With The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, The Astronauts – a team comprised of People Can Fly (Bulletstorm, Painkiller) veterans – aim to evolve immersive storytelling in games. It’s set for release on PC via digital distributors in 2013.

As a detective with the supernatural ability to visualize scenes of lethal crimes, you investigate the kidnapping of a young boy, hoping to save him before it’s too late. The investigation leads you to a beautiful mountain area, where you come across a severely mutilated body of one of the kidnappers. Using both your paranormal skill and modern detective tools you discover the mystery behind the trail of corpses in the valley, the roots of an ancient force ruling the area, and the fate of the kidnapped boy.

“What we care about the most is that the players feel like they’re really there. Immersion is our number one priority," said the game’s designer, Adrian Chmielarz. “It’s a game about exploration and discovery. We’re not abandoning the gameplay – on the contrary: we’re trying to strip it down to the bone and make sure it’s always meaningful and truly makes the experience better.”

The game is being developed on the latest version of the industry-leading Unreal Engine 3 technology from Epic Games, as well as exciting new technology, the details of which we will reveal in the coming months.

About The Astronauts

The Astronauts is small independent studio located in Warsaw, Poland. It was founded last year by Adrian Chmielarz, Andrzej Poznanski and Michal Kosieradzki. They were the original founders of People Can Fly, where they lead the development of such games as Painkiller and Bulletstorm, and lately worked on Gears of War: Judgment.

“There are lots of great things about the big world of AAA games, but there’s even more appeal to us in making games that feel and are personal, and where the only censors are the creators and the public. We want to make games which we are 100% responsible for. By starting The Astronauts we went back to the way we were ten years ago, when we were making Painkiller and were doing it completely our way. The game that we’re making right now could not be more different, but the studio spirit seems to be exactly the same.”
