Rambo: The Video Game
There’s a new Rambo game? This one really crept up on me – which I suppose is appropriate given the elite stealth skills of Sly Stallone’s mass-murdering PTSD sufferer. According to the publisher bumpf, the forthcoming game will recreate iconic sequences from the first three movies by way of fixed-perspective first-person shooting. Several such fixed-perspectives, which should be immediately recognisable to fans of the series, can be viewed after the jump.
The game also promises "authentic Rambo gameplay comprising shoot-outs, stealth killings, demolition, knife-play and more” and will "leverage contemporary gameplay elements such as destructible terrain, cover-based shooting and rag-doll physics”. Good to know – I love it when games leverage things.
It’ll be interesting to see how they marry an on-rails murdergasm with the narrative of the (actually rather good) first film, which largely consists of a homeless veteran struggling with his inner demons while sneaking round a forest.

You can expect our full review of the Killzone Trilogy soon, but in the meantime, we can clear up whether or not Killzone 1 HD is a PSN download or not.
As you can see in the above picture, the original Killzone in full HD and complete with trophies is included on the same disc as Killzone 2, meaning that you won’t have to download it from the PSN at all. The only downside is that you have to do a mandatory install for it, which takes up 3,036 MB.
The Killzone Trilogy will be available on October 23rd for $39.99 and Killzone 1 HD will be out the same day on the PSN for $14.99.

Potential Steam exploit discovered by security firm
Technology security firm Revuln has released details of a potential exploit utilising Steam and Safari.
According to the company’s report [PDF], Steam’s external protocol links – those used to quickly open Steam and install games directly from your browser, as from the online storefront – can be opened invisibly within Safari. A malicious party could utilise this to compromise remote systems, apparently.
While most other major browsers prompt the user before opening an application, Safari is the default browser of OS-X and has quite a large footprint, making the exploit somewhat serious.
If you’re the techy type, the full report accessible at the link above is likely to be of interest; otherwise, sit tight for word from Valve as to how serious it considers this problem and whetherpreventative measures will be enacted.
Obisdian's Project Eternity Sets Kickstarter Record
Project Eternity, the latest Kickstarter effort from developer Obsidian, became the highest-funded video game through the crowd funding website. The project surpassed the previous record-holder Double Fine Adventure this morning.
"All of us at Obsidian are overwhelmed at the amazing contributions of our fans and the RPG community," executive producer Adam Brennecke told Game Informer. "We never thought Project Eternity would be the highest funded game on Kickstarter.
"It blew our expectations out of the water and then some more. I want to give a big heartfelt thanks to Tim Shafer and Double Fine for being pioneers - we wouldn't be here without them."
Double Fine Adventure ended in March raising $3,336,371. Project Eternity sits at $3,577,505 with about 7 hours to go at the time of this posting.
Dungeon Defenders celebrates first birthday with free DLC, sale
Dungeon Defenders is one year old this week, so here’s a present: an entirely free DLC pack.
The Dungeon Defenders Anniversary Pack will be free on Steam for two weeks only, and includes one mission – the Tavern Siege – as well as party hat accessories, a birthday cake crystal core and decorations for the tavern.
The tower defence action RPG hybrid is also on sale at 75% off during Steam’s midweek madness.

Defiance developer diary details PvP experience
Defiance continues character progression across PvE and PvP, both of which take place in the same open world.
As you’ll see in the developer diary below, the third-person shooter MMO is coming together at last. Defiance is quite an interesting bunny, actually, as it’s being developed alongside a SyFy series, and player actions will somehow contribute to the show’s progress. Both sides of the transmedia affair are expected in April 2013.
