Ubisoft Giving Away Assassin’s Creed
Εικόνα
Did you somehow miss out playing the original Assassin’s Creed or want to bone up on the series before the third entry is released? Good, because Ubisoft is offering the first Assassin’s Creed absolutely free. Head over to UBIShop and create an account — if you don’t already have one — to claim your download. No word on how long this promotion will last, so act fast! Unfortunately for our international readers, it seems to only be available for download in the U.S.

The first person to make a “That’s $1 too much” joke gets our undying derision.

UPDATE: It appears Ubi has removed the offer from their store, making this a likely price-mistake. Hopefully you got in!

Furious 4 is no longer a Brothers In Arms Game
Εικόνα
Today at PAX at the “Inside Gearbox Software” panel, Gearbox president Randy Pitchford talked briefly about the game Brothers in Arms: Furious 4, which we haven’t heard anything about since its announcement back in 2011.

“I wanted to let everyone know that that game’s no longer going to be a Brothers In Arms game; It’s going to be an all-new IP,” Pitchford said. The developers ”pushed the gameplay loop, they got into a place that got away from the core” of the Brothers In Arms franchise. Since then, “it’s evolved even farther, and it needed to be unshackled.”

The game will apparently be re-announced at a Gearbox Software community event in Dallas, Texas on September 14th of this year. On September 15th, it is said that Pitchford will give fans an update on the Brothers in Arms franchise during their community day. Be sure to stay tuned to OnlySP for more coverage of Furious 4 and its upcoming re-announcement.

Dead Island: Riptide Steelcase Pre-Order Bonus Hits Best Buy
Εικόνα
Steelcase pre-order bonuses must be all the rage these days. We mentioned the first details of the don’t call it a sequel to Dead Island the other day, but I neglected to update the story with mention that there would be a cool little pre-order bonus available at retail. Well low and behold, not only are Techland and Deep Silver dropping this bad boy for Dead Island: Riptide pre-orders, they are out there in the wild as we speak. Much like what Ubisoft is doing with Assassin’s Creed III, your Dead Island: Riptide pre-order will have a nice, limited edition steelcase while supplies last. I found mine at Best Buy and when I saw it, I decided to hold off and go across the plaza to Gamestop to see if they had them, and they did not, so as I mention in the video, your mileage may vary. The Assassin’s Creed III steelcases sold out fast, so if this is your kind of thing, I recommend hitting your favorite gaming store ASAP.

Dead Island: Riptide will feature the same cast of characters from the first game and is more Dead Island 1.5 then it is Dead Island 2. It is set to release at a lower price point of $49.99 some time in 2013. That’s all we know for now, but I am sure more info is to come.

FIFA 13 menu system confusion
Towards the end of September football/soccer fans will be able to get their hands on the much-anticipated FIFA 13, and what’s also good about this release is that those with the upcoming iPhone 5 will also be able to get their hands on the new game from EA thanks to the upcoming iOS app. In the past we have covered a number of topics in regards to this game, with most of them being of the positive nature, but it’s been pointed out that there is an issue with the menu system, because for certain gamers there could be some confusion.
Εικόνα

Now that it’s only a matter of weeks before FIFA 13 is released it comes as no surprise that certain journalists will get some hands-on time with the game, and it’s clear to see that there are a number of innovations with the game – although not as many as fans of the franchise had hoped. In a recent preview of the game it was pointed out that the menu system might cause some confusion, but we have to wonder if this is because the reviewer was not used to the FIFA series? On a positive note though the reviewer did find the control system very easy to pick up.

These findings don’t come as any surprise to us because if you are new to a game franchise then it will take you sometime to pick up the likes of the menu system, but this could be a negative for the game because surely it would be far better for a newcomer to be able to jump right into FIFA 13 instead of wasting time trying to pick the easy part of the game up?

While it’s so easy to fall into the trap and pick up on the negative parts of an upcoming game, it’s the positives that will help to sell FIFA 13 – although the game will be able to sell itself. However, we can’t help ourselves and feel the need to point out some of those good points, and one new feature that will be very welcome is the 32 skill games you can compete in. What we like about this feature is how it will help improve your skills, which in turn will help you throughout the main part of the game.

FIFA 13 has not made the huge leap in innovation that we had hoped and there is a chance that PES 2013 could close the gap – well only a little – but it’s clear to see that they have still raised the bar. However, we can’t help but feel as though there are still a few missing features, such as women players and South American Leagues.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – Multiplayer Theft Auto Mod 1.3.1 Released
Εικόνα
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is considered one of the best part of the GTA series. And although it didn’t have any Multiplayer capabilities, a team of modders decided to overhaul Rockstar’s classic game. Multi Theft Auto (MTA) is an open-source software project that adds full on-line gaming support to Rockstar North’s Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas PC game. It is the first open-source modification that adds a highly customizable network play element to a commercial closed-source single-player PC game.
According to the team behind this mod, MTA is developed as an experimental piece of software for earlier Grand Theft Auto series, and has become an advanced multiplayer platform for gamers and developers. Its software provides on-line gaming for dozens of players running user-generated gameplay content and scripts through a Lua virtual machine, and is freely distributed under the GPLv3 license.
The team released a new version that is backwards-compatible with 1.3-based clients and server, and comes with Windows 8 support, increased max players for a single server to 4096, new features (such as BASS Effects, Analog Controls States, Bullet Sync and Custom Vehicle Sirens), Editor stability improvements and, other various new features.
