[Update] Payday: The Heist – No Mercy Trailer
Earlier this year it was announced that Overkill Software and Valve were working on a project together involving Payday: The Heist and Left 4 Dead, however little information was given. Today Overkill released a trailer and then subsequently pulled it down that revealed the collaboration to be Payday: The Heist- No Mercy, a prequel to the Left 4 Dead games.
The trailer showed what seemed to be a heist where the mission to retrieve a sample of blood has gone wrong, potentially leading to the outbreak from the Left 4 Dead games. The description for the trailer stated before it was taken down, “Have you ever wondered how the Left 4 Dead series began?” followed by “It started with a heist!”. Hopefully we will have an official statement soon from either Valve or Overkill confirming the existence of this exciting expansion to Payday: The Heist.

Top 5 Sexiest Videogame Women
5) Lara Croft

It was a tight one (hello!) to have Lara in the top 5 because her rugged semi-masculine action capabilities make her less of a lady and more of an intimidating pain-dealing force, but there was no way this iconic heroine (represented in movie form by the saucy Angelina Jolie) was going to miss out on this list for all the service she’s offered us for the past decade or so. It’s funny to think those combat shorts have never gotten old after all these years. Lucky us.
4) Tifa Lockhart

Tifa (or Queen La-Tifa as she can also be hilariously known as) is one of the main protagonists in Final Fantasy VII, and whilst I’ve yet to really immerse myself in a Final Fantasy title to date it’s safe to say that there’s a few places i’d like to immerse myself with her – IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN (ha ha ha!) All innuendo aside, Tifa has an absolutely huge personality and her honesty and kindness just jiggles around like a pair of wet, sopping… friendly things… I try.
3) Triss Merigold

I ask you – what other videogame heroine has ever been the centerfold in a Playboy magazine? None, that’s who – just Witcher 2′s Triss Merigold. Spells aren’t the only thing she can cast by the way; here at Explosion we’re enchanted by almost everything about her. She may be the love child of an elderly Polish man but what he may lack in sexual vigor he more than makes up for in his offerings of Trissy goodness.
2) Catherine

I’ve never been a fan of anime, dating simulators or indeed the arcade classic Qubert – and yet with that said, there’s something very saucy about Atlus’s subsequent concoction, Catherine. From the picture you may form the most stereotyped opinion of her and you’d be wrong to do that – there’s more to Catherine than just a pair of bouncing bajungas. In a rather interesting and educated spin on things, Catherine (with a C) is used throughout the game as a clear binary opposition to protagonist Vincent’s long-term partner Katherine (with a K) – offering the player two perspecives: commitment or promiscuity. Very nice.
1) Juliet Starling

Lollipop lollipop, ooh lolly lollipop! This game wouldn’t be anywhere near as good without its stellar leading lady; the up-skirt mistro, the titillating haven – the one, the only Juliet Starling. Sure you can angle your camera strategically, sure you can hack n’ slash your way through waves of semi-randy zombies – but where else can you hear quality phrases such as: “It’s because of my mom that me and my sisters wear our vagina’s with pride” or “Zombies suck dick at driving”? Nowhere else, that’s for sure. We salute you Juliet! Give me a S! Give me an H! Give me an A! Give me….
Most notable runners-up: Madison Paige (Heavy Rain), Shahdee (Prince of Persia: Warrior Within), Harley Quinn (Batman: Arkham Asylum), Chloe Frazer (Uncharted 2: Among Theives), Anyone from Rumble Roses.

TimeSplitters 4 Possible If Facebook Page Reaches 100,000 Fans
A new campaign has started for TimeSplitters 4 that has reached the attention of Crytek's higher-ups. Even former Free Radical members are intrigued about the new campaign that is aiming to hit 100,000 fans to help get TimeSplitters 4 made.
The Facebook page is a collaborative effort from gamers coming together to get Crytek to see that fans really do want and will pay for a TimeSplitters 4. The campaign sees the group utilizing social media, news aggregators and gaming websites to help promote the campaign and I get the feeling that it just might work.
Former Free Radical member Graeme Norgate, the composer on previous TimeSplitter games, says he'll contribute a victory theme song to the campaign if it reaches its goal of 100,000 fans. A senior Crytek artist also says he'll contribute a character design for TimeSplitters if they can get more than 1,000 likes on the Facebook page. As of the writing of this article they're currently at 780 likes.
In a recent interview with CVG Crytek president, Cevat Yerli was apprehensive about going the Kickstarter route (and realistically, they don't need to because TimeSplitters 4 doesn't need to be a $10 million dollar project) but Yerli doesn't think publishers will buy the idea that there is a big enough market for a TimeSplitters 4. That seems like the perfect opportunity for EA to dump a few million from their marketing budget and gain back some face by backing an XBLA or PSN rendition of TimeSplitters 4. It could work...it could work!
There's also the concern that TimeSplitters 4 faces stiff market competition from all the serious me-too military clones. I'm sure true fans are skeptical about the game turning into another serious Call of Duty style shooter, which is just something we don't need right now.
Anyways, gamers, for the moment, are just coming together and signing petitions, boosting up reddit threads and hijacking news aggregators to spread the word about the TimeSplitters 4 Facebook campaign. I definitely want to see how far this will go and what sort of results will come out of this. As mentioned, this would be the perfect time for EA to save some face with a community who dreadfully hates them.

Team Ninja 'experimenting' with next-gen ideas
Team Ninja has already started "experimenting with a few things" intended for next-gen hardware, the studio has told VideoGamer.
While discussing additional opportunities that the next generation of consoles may offer to its Dead or Alive series, DoA5's producer Yohei Shimbori told us that "there are lots of things that [Team Ninja] would love to do on new hardware.
"There are plenty of things both graphically and within the core system of a fighting game that we can't do with current hardware that we're really looking forward to doing in the future.
"If we tell you [what they are] now then you won't have anything to look forward to in the future! But we can tell you that it's something that's not in [Dead or Alive 5]."
Shimbori suggested that future hardware could offer significant improvements to the series online experience, and envisages an online lobby similar to "everybody throughout the world being in the same arcade".
"Online, there are plenty of things that we're looking forward to," he continued.
"Right now you have a matching system and lobbies where people can gather, but the number of people that gather there is limited. We would like to see everybody in the world able to come together and fight online, like everybody throughout the world being in the same arcade.
"We're experimenting with a few things right now, but we'll leave it at that."
Shimbori added that he felt that "the environment for fighting games has changed", acknowledging that the genre has "been accepted into a sport".
"We've put a lot of effort into online [in Dead or Alive 5], he continued. "Now every fighter has online capabilities and it's very common that players can have that kind of communication. We've also seen the rise of pro gamers where fighting games have been accepted as a sport."
Dead or Alive 5 launches on Xbox 360 and PS3 in September. It'll be the first game to launch in the series in seven years.
