Eastwood, Cage, Snipes and Harrison Ford Up for 'Expendables 3'?
This week The Expendables 2 hits theaters with all the action, veterans, explosions, blood splatters and one-liners fans are expecting. And if all goes well, it sounds like The Expendables 3 may not be too far behind. Total Film chatted with producer Avi Lerner, who reveals they're already trying to lock down more names for the next round of action, and fans will not be disappointed. Lerner says, "“We’ve approached Clint Eastwood to be one of the guys, we’ve got a character in mind for him. We’re talking to Harrison Ford. [And also] Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison," and, "we’ve got Nicolas Cage." Wow!
Obviously, it's pretty early on to consider any of these guys truly locked in to star, especially since a third film hasn't even been greenlit yet, but considering the crew that came together for this second outing, including Chuck Norris, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis (the latter two with more sizable roles than their cameos from the first film), then I'm sure they can pull it off. Cage was rumored for the second film for awhile, but it never happened. Oh, and Lerner also says, "And we’re going to bring Mickey Rourke back, if he won’t be too crazy." So that sounds like quite a cast, and should make for a very crowded poster. But when are we going to get Jackie Chan in on this franchise?

Troubled Uncharted Movie Project Loses Another Director

On paper, Uncharted seems like one of the easier games to adapt to film, given that its explosive brand of action adventure is similar to an interactive Hollywood movie to begin with. However, efforts to bring an Uncharted movie to the big screen have been plagued by difficulties. Today, it was revealed that director Neil Burger (Limitless), who had been tapped to direct the film, has left the project. However, more help may be on the way.
Burger isn't the first director to quit the Uncharted project. Respected director David O. Russell (Three Kings, The Fighter) had originally been slated to direct, but decided to disassociate himself from the movie in 2011.
Russell had been criticized for some of his ideas about the film's script, and his intent to cast Mark Wahlberg as protagonist Nathan Drake.
While Burger's exit leaves the project without a director once again, high profile script writers Marianne and Cormac Wibberly (National Treasure) have been hired to rewrite the film's script.
Still, one has to wonder: Perhaps this just wasn't meant to be?

Warner Bros confirms Mortal Kombat reboot

In one of the more unlikely reboots of recent years, Warner Bros has confirmed that Mortal Kombat will be getting a makeover, with a new adaptation of the classic videogame set to go into development.
Warner executive Lance Sloan confirmed that a new Mortal Kombat film is in the pipeline, while also revealing the kind of budget the project’s director will be working with.
“We're preparing right now for the film with Kevin Tancharoen, [who] directed the digital series for us," said Sloan. "He's at the helm of the forty, fifty million dollar film."
No firm details have been confirmed as yet, but word is the new film will follow a supermarket employee who discovers he has bizarre, otherworldly powers that lead him towards a pivotal choice between good and evil. And who hasn’t been there?
So long as there are some ludicrously gory fatalities on display, we’ll probably find ourselves taking a look. All together now… “FINISH HIM!”

Pixar Remembers Steve Jobs, Dedicates Main Building To Him
Okay, so maybe Steve Jobs was wrong about the iPad’s size — apparently the Mini is becoming quite the go-to device for Apple fans — but that doesn’t mean he isn’t missed. That other Jobs operation, the little animation studio known as Pixar, has quite the fitting memorial for the long-departed visionary who poured his heart (and millions of his own money) to keep the company alive in its earlier years.
And now, about a year after his passing, a Pixar employee tweeted out an image that illustrates how the company is honoring the man — by naming its main edifice after him.

The honcho’s name is plastered in front, cast above the main threshold in a rather clean, modern-looking font that Jobs himself would’ve appreciated. It’s rather fitting — he was a key player in the design of the whole building.
Previously, Pixar included dedications to Jobs in Brave and John Carter. Ashton Kutcher is set to play the legendary tech founder in the upcoming jOBS film, set to debut in 2013.

Toy Story 3 writer for Star Wars sequels

Oscar-winning screenwriter Michael Arndt has completed a lengthy treatment for the for 'Star Wars' sequels, according to reports.
Arndt, who is part of Pixar's 'brain trust' of creative minds, is likely to be among those who will be working on the screenplay to Disney's new sequels, announced last week.
He's best known for his Academy Award-winning screenplay for hit comedy 'Little Miss Sunshine', and for penning the critically applauded 'Toy Story 3', while he also adapted the forthcoming 'Hunger Games' sequel 'Catching Fire' for the screen.
Meanwhile, he's behind the enticingly working-titled 'Untitled Pixar Movie That Takes You Inside the Mind', and sci-fi thriller 'Oblivion', starring Tom Cruise.
Arndt, a huge 'Star Wars' authority, would be key among among a team of writers who will pen the forthcoming three sequels, while directors Brad Bird, JJ Abrams and Steven Spielberg are said to be looking at Arndt's treatment, though no director is yet attached.
Since the announcement that George Lucas's Lucasfilm was being sold to Disney to the princely sum of $4 billion (£2.5 billion), the web has been awash with rumours over who may direct.
Though JJ Abrams may see the treatment, it's thought that his directing the 'Star Trek' series may clash, while, Zack Snyder, behind 'Watchmen' and 'Man of Steel', has said he wouldn't be interested in taking the helm.
The likes of Matthew Vaughn, director of 'Kick-Ass', 'Iron Man's Jon Favreau and Andrew Stanton, who directed 'Wall-E' and has worked on a host of Pixar properties, are popular fan choices.
Meanwhile, original stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford are all thought to be open to reprising their roles of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo in future films.
