Far Cry 3′s insanity personified, interview with Dan Hay
Far Cry 3′s unique angle on ‘insanity’ is one that involves drugs, naked tribe women and dubstep. VG247 found out first hand how insane this game is, by speaking to Dan Hay – the game’s producer. Video after the break.
For the 3rd in the series (minus all the console spin-offs), Far Cry 3 sets out to create a unique experience by setting the tone of the game somewhere inside a hallucinogenic mist. For a man who previously worked on F.E.A.R 3, Dan Hay is perfect for that job.
Above, VG247 ramble with Hay about the all-new 4 player co-op, insanity itself and Jason Brody’s attempts at survival. There’s even an evil laugh in there somewhere.

Far Cry 3's Vaas Montenegro Immortalized In Statue Form
Syco Collectibles is banking on Far Cry 3's crazy antagonist Vaas Montenegro to become a fixture on gamers' shelves. This six-inch PVC figurine is due out in October (two month's before the game's December 4 ship date), and is priced at $39.99.

Far Cry 3′s Brody is a “victim,” a “babe in the woods”
Far Cry 3 protagonist Jason Brody is to make the journey from “victim” to “killer” in the upcoming shooter, producer Dan Hay has told G4.
Hay said: “Jason’s a normal guy. He comes to the island and meets Vaas. He’s put in very abnormal, very disturbing situations. And he’s not a super-soldier. He’s basically got to learn how to fend for himself. He’s a babe in the woods. He’s what I like to call a daylight athiest: super-tough when the sun’s up, but as soon as the moon comes up he’s crying for mom.”
Brody’s situation draws distinct parallels to the upcoming Tomb Raider: he’s a “normal person” forced into a terrifying situation on an island, and must save his friends from death.
Hay added: “By the end of it you’ve gone from being a victim, to being a killer, to making even liking it a little too much. The question is, by the end of the game, who are you?”
While Far Cry 3 shares obvious themes with Tomb Raider in that the protagonist is an everyday Joe – or Joeina – in an action scenario on an island, Crystal Dynamics provoked a ferocious reaction in explaining the new Lara in June, saying the player will want to “protect” Croft and that “you start to root for her in a way that you might not root for a male character.”
The comments were compacted by the inclusion of a sexual element in the scenes that transform Lara into a killer. While sex does occur in Far Cry, it appears to be consensual.
Far Cry 3 releases on November 30 in Europe and December 4 in the US.
