Gamescom 2012 may reveal GTA V release date
For the first time since the debut trailer was released in November last year, we may finally be getting more details about Grand Theft Auto V.

The first proper details surrounding the most anticipated game of 2012, Grand Theft Auto V, may finally emerge at Europe's biggest video game trade fair - Gamescom 2012.

Of course it is only rumours and speculation at the moment, but the evidence does suggest that we are likely to see details surface about GTA V at Gamescom, including a release date.

The rumours spawn from the Gamescom 2012 official trailer, which shows a glimpse - albeit very brief glimpse - of GTA V footage, and the fact that Rockstar's parent company Take-Two is listed as an exhibitor at the event.

Rockstar themselves haven't been specifically listed as an exhibitor, but it seems safe to assume that the presence of Take-Two and the GTA V footage in the trailer, suggests some big news is on its way.

GTA 5 will not be shown at Gamescom
Gamescom trailer added GTA V footage 'in error'
Rockstar will not be attending Gamescom this year to showcase Grand Theft Auto 5, CVG can reveal.

Speculation over the its highly anticipated project's appearance at Europe's biggest games event has intensified in recent weeks, due in part to an official Gamescom trailer which featured a snippet of footage from Rockstar North's next crime opus.

But a spokesperson for Gamescom has told CVG that the Grand Theft Auto V footage was included "in error".

Franko Fischer, communications manager of Gamescom's organising body Koelnmesse, said "Rockstar Games is not scheduled and has never been scheduled to exhibit at Gamescom 2012".

He said that all GTA V footage has now been removed from the Gamescom trailer.

"We apologise for any confusion this may have caused," he added.

Fischer was nevertheless upbeat about the show's appeal to the games market. He said there would be numerous world premieres and surprise reveals at the show.

"Although GTA 5 won't be at the show, I think we will once again have the most spectacular world premieres set for the events," he added.

GTA 5 changeable weather and its effects
The need for more Grand Theft Auto V information seems to be greater than ever, one would have assumed that interest would have faded a little by now because of such a long wait for another trailer or some juicy details from Rockstar, but it seems some fans were just about happy enough with a couple of screenshots last week. Knowing that the developer is keeping details of GTA 5 tightly wrapped-up we can only hope that the next incarnation of the game will be something truly special.
Having already discussed a number of what features we would like to see implemented into GTA V, such as being able to go into houses, fully customizable cars and much more there’s also another feature that we would like, and that’s changeable weather. By bringing in such a thing this could add a greater dimension into the game because with changeable weather brings different effects.

Before you say this will be too big of a task for such a game, just remember that Assassin’s Creed 3 has changeable weather. Okay, we know that the two are very different games, but it can be done, it’s just knowing if the engine that Rockstar will be using would be up to the task?

There’s no denying that the Grand Theft Auto series is up there as one of the greatest gaming franchises, so surely bringing in this feature would only help to boost its popularity? We know that Los Angeles has storm drains, so how cool would it be to see Los Santos flood and for rivers to start forming in the streets, which in turn would make things much more treacherous for our protagonist to get on with his mission?

Then there’s also other areas of the game that could be affected by the weather as well, such as rivers rising, vehicles having to slow down if it’s raining heavy or the wind is blowing to hard and in extreme cases snow, which we know could bring more children out on the streets making it much tougher for you to do the things you need to do in fear of hurting a child.

Okay, so the likelihood of changeable weather in Grand Theft Auto V is pretty slim because there is always so much more going on in the game, but just imagine how much excitement it would bring, as well as you also not being in control of a powerful element within the game?

GTA 5 screens show cycling, fighter jets and sports cars
GTA 5 gets new screens and they’re good. Fighter jets, sports cars and a man’s cycling bum are the order of the day.

Rockstar has revealed three new screens from GTA 5 over at the publisher’s site. The cycling shot shows someone riding a bike towards a pier, which is a take on the real-life Santa Monica pier – Ferris wheel and all.

Rockstar confident GTA 5 will only inspire 19% of players to commit murder
With just months to go until the release of Grand Theft Auto 5, Rockstar has assured critics that it only expects 19% of players to commit real-life atrocities after playing through the violent campaign.

Whilst previous installments in the controversial series have been responsible for numerous high-profile massacres, Rockstar is confident that the vast majority of GTA 5 players will only experience mild feelings of murderous rage, with exposure to the game generally resulting in petty hooliganism as opposed to cold-blooded murder.

“With GTA having been responsible for countless shootings, stabbings and that terrible Japanese earthquake in 2011, we knew we had to take action”,
said a spokesman for the renowned developer.

“We’ve worked closely with a team of cognitive psychologists throughout the entire development process and they’re confident that only 19% of players will feel compelled to brutally murder their family or shoot up their school after playing GTA 5. Better yet, our psychologists predict that the remaining 81% of players will simply engage in low-level criminal behavior, most likely jaywalking or disregarding ‘no ball game’ signs in parks.”

In a bold step for the industry, GTA 5 will be the first video game to inform consumers of the likelihood that they or their loved ones will be transformed into bloodthirsty lunatics after playing. However, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has stated that all publishers will be required to provide this information by 2014.
