Mass Effect 3 single-player DLC to focus on Shepard

So, what's next for Mass Effect? Producer Mike Gamble showed off one picture of future Mass Effect 3 content in his panel at Comic-Con, and from what he told Joystiq it seems to point to more single-player DLC. "We want to do single-player DLC," he said. "We want to do single-player, maybe more multiplayer if people still play it."
That single-player DLC, whatever it is, will still be about Shepard, not someone else in the universe. "Mass Effect 3 is Shepard's story," said Gamble, "so the single-player DLC for Mass Effect 3 will probably focus around Shepard."
The Earth DLC pack for Mass Effect 3 will be the fifth update to the game since launch, following three other multiplayer updates, and the Extended Cut update that fans begged for. Mike Gamble and his team have learned a lot over the course of these updates, but he told us there were quite a few things that surprised them about the reception to Mass Effect 3 multiplayer.
"We see people who have everything unlocked all the way up to level 20 on everything, plus all the mods, plus all of the gear, everything," said Gamble. "It takes a lot of time, a lot of time to get that stuff, like hundreds and hundreds of hours of play to usually get up to that level. And some of these people had done it in the first month to two months."
Gamble was also been surprised by the response to the Vorcha class, playable for the first time in the Rebellion Pack DLC. "I expected people to shy away from the Vorcha because they're Vorcha, but everyone seems to love to play with them."

"Mass Effect 3" and "Total Recall" Get The Trailer Mash-Up Treatment
Fun fact: The upcoming remake of Total Recall is actually another feature-length argument for the ever-popular Mass Effect 3 indoctrination theory...
Ok, so that's a lie. But wouldn't it make the movie so much cooler?
This trailer remix, the latest in a series of game-centric trailer mash-ups from the guys at Node Studios, combines the audio from a trailer for the 2012 remake of Total Recall with a trailer for Mass Effect 3.
It's kind of a perfect fit, really. Total Recall is about a conspiracy revolving around a guy whose memories have been tampered with. Meanwhile, die-hard fans of Mass Effect 3 were on the verge of accusing Bioware of the same thing... Heyo!
You could also go on drawing parelells between Shepard and Total Recall protagonist Doug Quaid, but I think the other way is much, much funnier.
'Debates about the Mass Effect 3 ending miss the bigger picture'

Ι've just finished Mass Effect 3, having got there spoiler-free (don't ask me how). And I was blown away. There's been a great deal of furore about the ending, sometimes with justification, sometimes not. As a dyed-in-the wool ME fan, I was rocked by the ending in a way I've never experienced in this medium before. At 2am, and with that haunting piano refrain still echoing in my headphones, I sat furious, elated, desolate. So many questions, so much to process.
But all the debates about the ending, to me, seem to miss the bigger picture. For the end of a videogame to have the same crushing emotional impact as the end of a beloved TV show or movie franchise vis a new experience for me. It's a testament to the commitment BioWare have to gaming, and the potential that have as an artform, as a medium capable of telling mature, engrossing stories, rather than just new and interesting ways of shooting people in the face.
There were certainly missed opportunities and missteps − I do think they made a bit of a dog's dinner of the ending, and it's ambition as 'high sci-fi' stumbled within the confines of gameplay conventions − we all know that thanks to the shrieking masses on the web there will now be an Extended Cut [It's out now - Ed], but for me the ending and trilogy as a whole exemplifies BioWare's ambition and courage.
Which ever way you look at it, ME was a stunning trilogy with unforgettable moments - and can any other game claim to have been discussed and analysed in the way that ME has? Sure, ME3 made some concessions to bigger business requirements − multiplayer, multi-platform tie-ins, etc. They didn't spoil the game for me, because honestly I couldn't care less about any of that. I cared about the story, the story of my Shepard; the guy I spent 150 hours of my life fighting, romancing, sacrificing, and agonising with. And I enjoyed every second of it.
XBW says: Jez, your letter is refreshing like a gallon of Mojitos on a hot summer day. In a rush to criticise the ending many have forgotten about the 150 hours of game before that. We've always said it: Mass Effect is about the journey, not the destination. And god forbid anyone speaks out to say they're happy with the ending.
CVG says: I agree with you Jez, and in fact I still haven't checked out the Extended Cut DLC because of it. Although I'll admit the ending provided more questions than answers those brief few minutes were insignificant compared to the hundreds of hours that preceeded it.
