Black Ops 2 Weapons List
Assault Rifle
AN-94

The Russian-built AN-94 is an advanced assault rifle which stands for "Avtomat Nikonova model of 1994." Designed to replace the old AK-74M, the AN-94 is set to become the general issue rifle for the armed forces of the Russian Federation in the near future.

The AN-94 offers a unique two-shot burst function that can fire up to 1800 rounds per minute. The unique mechanism within the rifle fires a second shot in the burst quick enough that it escapes the recoil of the first shot, potentially allowing each burst to hit a target twice in the same location.

XM8

The XM8 project may have been scrapped in real life but that doesn't mean you won't have a chance to use it in Black Ops 2. This lightweight assault rifle was in development at arms manufacturer Heckler & Koch in the early 21st century, and was designed to replace the aging M4.

Despite its cancellation in real life, production has apparently resumed in full force for the army of the future. A variant of the weapon can be seen cradled in the arms of Alex Mason, Black Ops 2's protagonist.

M16

The M16 is an assault rifle which, despite its age, has yet to outlive its usefulness. This iconic American gun will be in its prime as its used throughout the chapters of Black Ops 2 set in the 1980s.

The weapon served the US army faithfully in the Vietnam War, becoming the US military's standard service rifle by 1969, replacing the now obsolete M14 in its role. Since then, it's seen three major upgrades (up to the M16A4 designation).

The M16 offers semi-automatic, three-round burst, and full automatic fire. It can also be equipped with a variety of attachments, most notably the OKC-3S bayonet, and the M203 40mm grenade launcher, which is also seen on the newer M4 carbine.

FN SCAR

While you might be tempted to call it the 'effin scar', the FN SCAR (the FN's short for Fabrique Nationale) is one of the weapons which took part in a competition by the US military in search of a "future needs" weapon for its SOCOM division. These highly modular assault rifles are particularly resistant to dust, not that it would matter in any videogame.

The weapon comes in two variants, light (SCAR-L) and heavy (SCAR-H), both of which fulfill multipurpose roles in the battlefield of the future.

M4A1

Seen on the marketing poster for Black Ops 2, the M4A1 is the fully automated variant of the M4, and is intended for special operations use. It's used by almost every US special operations unit, including the Army Rangers, Navy SEALS, and Air Force CCTs.

Due to its compactness and stopping power, it's highly favored by counter-terrorist and special forces units to use in close quarters combat.
Sub-Machine Guns
MP7

The MP7 is a compact submachine gun developed and manufactured by German arms company Heckler & Koch. Chambered with a small, 4.6x30mm cartridge, the relatively new weapon fits all the requirements for a personal defense weapon (PDW) class firearm, offering good penetrative abilities to defeat body armor than any weapons limited to conventional pistol cartridges.

It's small, it's quiet, and it packs one hell of a punch.
Light Machine Guns
M249 SAW

This light machine gun is designed to fulfill support roles for the squad (hence the SAW, which stands for Squad Automatic Weapon). Developed by FN, the M249 is in wide use by the US military, having replaced the much older workhorse M60 LMG way back in 1984.

The M249 offers small squads with the ability to lay down heavy fire in the midst of combat situations. In addition to its heavy firepower, it offers accuracy and portability approaching that of a rifle, making it a good all-purpose weapon on the field.
Pistols
Kriss Kard

The oddly named Kriss Kard is one of a new generation of weapons that use a fixed barrel instead of a tilting barrel system used in conventional handguns. I'll save you the technical details. It's a handgun that looks like the Magnum out of Unreal.

M1911

The M1911 is one of the oldest and most reliable service weapons. It's been in service since its inception in 1911 and continues to enjoy widespread use in the armed forces despite its age.

The handgun is a single-action, semi-automatic, magazine-fed and recoil-operated handgun chambered to .45 which offers it tremendous stopping power.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 PC is simultaneously developed with the console version; won’t be a port
E3 is just around the corner and we can – hopefully – expect more news about the PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Although Treyarch has not revealed anything ground-breaking yet, despite the DX11 support, we are happy to report today that the PC version of Black Ops 2 won’t be a simple port from the console version, as a dedicated PC team is working on it.
When a fan asked whether PC gamers would be getting a console port of Black Ops 2, Treyarch’s director of technology, Cesar Stastny, responded and said that wasn’t the case:

“pc version is developed by a dedicated pc team simultaneously with the other platforms”

In addition, Stastny reassured fans that the game is built from the ground up to catch cheaters. It’s pretty obvious that Treyarch is trying to limit the amount of cheaters, something that plagued every COD and Battlefield game. And even though fans are not sure whether they should trust Treyarch or not, Stastny said that they are trying to improve their ability to detect and ban:

“Every popular pc title is hacked upon release. We are improving our ability to detect and ban based on lessons learned on blackops.”

Black Ops 2 Zombies will deliver "new and innovative twists"
We're well aware that a load of you think Zombies is the best bit of Call of Duty, so you should be excited to hear that in Black Ops 2, literally everything's on the cards. Speaking to OXM at E3, a Treyarch producer has hinted at a bold new direction
"I don't know if you know the story, but during World at War the very small team was playing around with the concept of a tower defence game within Call of Duty and that evolved into Zombies, and it sort of got this underground movement within the studio," he said. "It's become a much bigger part of the game, that we never anticipated was going to be as big it is."

Activision has embraced Zombies in light of this, revitalising its cold, greying flesh with wholesome injections of technology. "Typically Zombies would run on what we call the single player, the code base that's more single player centric. We've now moved that over to multiplayer. You guys haven't seen what that means. But for us, it's a lot more zombies, it's a lot more players," the Treyarch rep explained.

We aren't just talking prettier textures, though. "For us it's going to be a different type of zombie experience than people have experienced in the past. The roots of the traditional survival element will be there, but there's going to be a lot of new things that we're throwing in and we're really curious how fans are going to respond to that," commented our source, adding that "so far at the team at Treyarch and the team at Activison, and the user-testing we've done on it, the response has been really positive."

Location-wise, the sky demonstrably isn't the limit. "With Zombies it's the one part of Call of Duty that you can take anywhere. We went to the moon. We had the presidents, we had Sarah Michelle Gellar, Danny Trejo... so for us it's 'What sounds fun? What could be interesting? What could be compelling?'"

"I can't tell you where we're going with it, but what I can tell you is: yes, that team is a very creative team. They're always pushing the boundaries of what they're doing and I wouldn't be surprised if there'll be some really cool stuff that we're going to announce soon."

If we can reach the giddy heights of Sarah Michelle Gellar, we can do anything! Where would you most like to violently lay the dead to rest? It might just happen in Black Ops 2. You can't say 'Ponyville', that's our one.

Black Ops 2′s multiplayer, zombies & more. Mark Lamia on how Treyarch are “not iterating” COD
Εικόνα
OPM How do you go about following up the biggest game ever, and how much pressure does that put on you?

Mark Lamia I think we follow up Black Ops by wanting to surprise and innovate in pretty much every area, whether it’s the campaign, the multiplayer or the zombies. The team had some really ambitious goals – a team that I’m very proud of [for] wanting to take on the challenge of not just iterating, but coming up with some great new innovative gameplay on every front.

OPM How early was the decision taken to go into the future – was it tempting to make a more linear continuation of the first game?

Mark LamiaML From the very beginning, going into the near future was on the table for it. We really wanted to do something fresh and exciting and new, and create just this epic fiction. One of the main goals was that we wanted to present the most compelling villain we’ve ever done in COD, and that required us to have part of it take place in that first Cold War era in the ’80s, about 20 years after the end of Black Ops where we learn about that villain’s motivation. And it isn’t until we get to this later point in time in 2025, when technology has advanced at such a rapid pace and been incorporated into our military infrastructure, [that] our villain is able to turn our greatest strength into our greatest weakness.

OPM For you, is a well-rounded villain something the past games haven’t done?

ML In games that we’ve created in the past, I think it’s fair to say our villains have been fairly two-dimensional in nature. We absolutely wanted to take on a completely different challenge with the narrative and fiction for this game. And with this game, what we wanted to do was create a three-dimensional villain, and in order to do that we have to be able to understand the motivations for that villain, which means we’re going to be giving [him] some screen time, so to speak.

We’re going to be experiencing that villain throughout this time period – these time periods, in the past and in the future – and really understand those motivations. And it’s not going to be just a two-dimensional situation… in fact, the villain is at the heart of a lot of the conflict in the world. He’s masterminding and pulling the strings of the second cold war, and bringing it to a boiling point. And just unravelling that in Black Ops fashion is going to be really exciting for players.
OPM The big thing that caught me off guard was this idea of divergent gameplay – that my game is going to be different to your game. How different could one player’s experience be to another’s?

ML I think players can have some pretty different experiences playing Black Ops 2, in a way they’ve never had with any COD game. In fact, there’ll be missions that there’s a good chance you’ll experience if you do a single playthrough of the campaign that your friends might not actually play. Now you’re going to have the opportunity to go back if you want, and replay some of the missions you’ve played where there’s some actually divergent gameplay, story-branching moments – but more so there’s actually missions that you just won’t experience.

Given the choices you make along the way, it may be the case that your ending won’t be the same as somebody else. There are different narratives for each of the characters. There are narratives for the villain. There are narratives relating to the geopolitical situation that’s going on. And the choices that you make while playing the game will affect all that.
