Starhawk update 1.03 going live today, adds two new maps LightBox has announced that Starhawk’s latest update will be going live later today.
As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, the biggest feature of the update is the inclusion of two new maps, Cypress: Collider and Cypress: Origin. Both maps will come free of charge, as the studio has promised in the past.
Other additions include added prestige levels; a new Homeworld game lobby; team-balancing and voice chat fixes; a new push-to-talk option which doesn’t turn players’ mics on automatically; various in-game gear and weapon tune-ups; a change to the Capture the Flag mode’s scoring system; and the ability to play custom music through the XMB, among others. Whew.
The update will officially be available at 8.00pm BST in Europe, and 2pm CST in North America.
The dev also says that they’re already at work on update 1.04, which will “include new gameplay modes, 5 new smaller layouts, even some new Build & Battle load-outs, and a bunch of other stuff too.”
Dust 514 open to PS Plus subscribers from August 21 PlayStation Plus members will have access to an exclusive DUST 514 beta test between August 21 and September 4, CCP has announced. The beta is the first to be hosted live on EVE Online’s servers, meaning it will grant access to orbital strikes, matchmaking, and new maps. Understandably, you want to get on board immediately; if you don’t have a Plus subscription, you can buy a Mercenary Pack for an all-access pass and a pile of bonus in-game loot. DUST 514 is set to launch by the end of the year, ties in intimately with EVE Online, and supports keyboard and mouse controls.
PS3 is in “prime time,” no price cut coming this year, says Yoshida Shuhei Yoshida believes PS3 is in “prime time,” therefore a price cut is not needed nor expected this year, says Sony’s head of Worldwide Studios.
Speaking with Eurogamer at gamescom, Yoshida said with the bevy of titles coming to the system, it was a “great time” for consumers to purchase console.
“We are very happy with where we are in terms of PS3: the services, games, and the pricing included,” Yoshida said. “So, there’s no plan for any change we can talk about.”
Consumers shouldn’t expect a new PS3 model this year either, Yoshida said rumors of the super-slim PS3-4000 were only that: “a rumor.”
VG247 was told back in July there were no plans for a £99 PS3.
